Description
The Vice President of Sales and Marketing's role is to assure the successful execution of the company's business mission through the overall coordination, the functional management and leadership of all of the sales and marketing activities of the company.
Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
- In partnership with the Chief Operating Officer, establish both annual and monthly sales objectives.
- Develop an annual sales and marketing plan and provide quarterly updates, revisions and modifications of the plan as required.
- Coordinate the specific objectives of the Sales and Marketing plan with all of the functional departments of the company including specifically development and finance.
- In partnership with the President and Chief Operating Officer, establish both market and target strategies for the company.
Implementation & Deployment
- Manage the needs of the company's customers in order to meet the objectives of the company's overall business plans and customers.
- Manage the monthly and annual sales objectives for all of the sales and business development personnel.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key accounts to solicit feedback on company products and services and ensure that they are satisfied with products and service delivery.
- Establish and maintain a channel partner sales strategy.
- In collaboration with support and communications departments, arrange product training for sales and business development personnel.
- Identify and attend trade shows and industry specific meetings as required.
- In coordination with the President and COO, establish compensation plans for all sales and business development personnel including salary structures, commission plans, sales contest and bonus plans.
Operational Management
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of association standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and industry sales strategies by attending relevant conferences and reading widely.
- Define and communicate company values and standards to sales and business development personnel.
- Share knowledge, mentor, and educate the organization's investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders with regard to the company’s sales and marketing vision, opportunities, and challenges.
- Supervise recruitment, training, retention, and organization of all sales and marketing staff in accordance with the company hiring process, personnel policies, and budget requirements.
- Establish standards of performance and monitor conformance for staff (through performance review).
- Promote achievement of the company's business goals within a context of community collaboration.
Position Requirements:
Formal Education & Certification
- University degree in the field of marketing, business administration, or another rigorous discipline. An advanced degree in one these fields is a plus.
Knowledge & Experience
- Demonstrated ability to envision web-based services that meet consumer needs or solve business problems.
- Minimum 5 years experience as a sales manager or coordinator managing finance or technology sales teams.
- Experience managing both in-house and field sales team.
- Experience developing and executing tactical sales plans including quota and account objectives.
- Experience managing telemarketing sales teams.
